Anji Mottled Bamboo Tea Scoop

Anji, Zhejiang, China

A cha ze (tea scoop) — the flat, gently curved bamboo blade used in gongfu tea to lift loose leaf out of its caddy and guide it into the gaiwan or pot, instead of tipping the bag straight in. Naturally mottled ('leopard-spot') bamboo from Anji, Zhejiang — one of China's best-known bamboo-growing regions — carved as a single piece with a small hanging hole at the handle end.

Simple, sturdy, and genuinely useful at the tea table rather than just decorative.
